Kintyre Way Relay
Saturday 1st May 2010
Walkers Event

The Kintyre Way walks are mainly on man-made hill paths and forestry tracks with a few short stretches on single-track roads.  If you do the Tarbert-Tayinloan walk, the hardest part is the shingle beach shortly before the end

What to bring:

  • Map  -  Ordnance Survey  Landranger 62/68 or Explorer 356/357
  • Compass and whistle (in case mist comes down … path is sometimes indistinct)
  • Windproof full body cover (because weather can change quickly)
  • Mobile phone (but note: some places out of reception, depending on network)
  • Water supply and food

What you get:

  • Hi-visibility yellow smock with Kintyre Way logo.  This is a memento to keep, but also must be worn during sections on or near any public road (and preferably throughout the walk).
  • Refreshments (teas, coffees, fruit juice, snacks) at the start in Tarbert and at Clachan Village Hall. Walkers starting at Torrisdale get refreshments at Carradale Village Hall.
  • At the finish at Tayinloan Village Hall, there will be soup, sandwiches and cakes, and the option to stay around for the evening feast and ceilidh-dance.

Walk A
Tarbert to Clachan (22 miles) with option to continue to Tayinloan (another 9 miles).
Start: Tarbert  06:15am

You will be able to cheer off the runners starting at 06:00 and then have a cup of tea before the walkers’ start at 06:15.
