CLAONAIG to CLACHAN
From Claonaig Ferry Terminal, continue on tarmac road 0.7km to junction with B842, turn left and continue on undulating tarmac road 1.7km to Oak Wood. At small car park turn right on to hill path, gradually gaining height, with some boggy ground. After 3km, reach footbridge over stream, bear left following path, parallel to stream at first, then gradually veering to right. Ground uneven, tussocky in places, difficult for running. Path sometimes indistinct, so keep a lookout for markers, especially if misty. After 3km on path, reach Lochan Fraoich. Continue on path round side of loch, taking care on steep banks. Watch out for point where path departs from side of loch after 0.8km, to pass through woods for 1 km until reaching forestry track. Turn right on track, heading mostly downhill for 2 km to reach junction with another track. Turn left, go 0.4km, take right fork, continue 1.6km past Loch Ciaran, then look out for marker where path departs from track on left side. For next 1.7km, path follows valley formed by Allt Mor river, then for last 0.7km to Clachan, path zig-zags downhill through mixed woods - take care, as it is easy to get lost here. Be careful crossing main road (A83) to checkpoint.
(Total 16km)
For toilets and refreshments, use footbridge leading to Clachan Village Hall.
